 'ROME ANTICS'

Our  Spring production 2009 “Rome-Antics” with script  by Julian Burton, Jeremy Bosanquet and John Jones,  was an original, saucy, musical comedy set in ancient Roman times.

There were three performances at Usk Memorial Hall, Llanfair Kilgeddyn and Little Mill.

SYNOPSIS

The year is 30 BC, Caesar and Cleopatra have been lovers, time has passed and Caesar has been assassinated. The new Emperor, Octavius Augustus, has defeated Mark Antony’s army at Actium. Mark Antony has fallen in love with Cleopatra and they are holed up in her Palace as Octaviun legions approach.

Sensing that they are doomed, Queen Cleopatra begs Mark Antony to join her in the after life and kills herself. Heartbroken and distraught Mark Antony is about to commit suicide when he is interrupted by his mother and a young slave girl Myfanwy. Myfanwy tells him of a Druid in her home country Wales, who has a magic potion that can bring his dead lover back to life.

Audiences followed Mark Antony on his quest from ancient Rome to Ancient Wales to find the Celtic Camp home of the Arch Druid and his secret elixir of life.
